💚 A big shout out to the brave warriors like Noah Barlow, Captain of the Mio Movement. He is impacted by mitochondrial disease (mito) but he's an unstoppable ninja❣️He loves to play wheelchair sports as much as he can. He was awarded Moorabool Young Citizen of the year. “I want to be a leader who represents diversity and disability and to change the world for people like me" 😊

🙌 This year, thousands of The Bloody Long Walkers joined his virtual team "Noah's Ninjas" to raise awareness and funds for mito. Together, the bloody awesome ninjas raised over $210,000! Thank you!!💚

🙌✨HUGE shoutout to Bailey!! 🙌✨

This year, he walked 385kms, doing every one of the 11 Bloody Long Walks nationally! 😮 He Started in Melbourne in May and finished in Sydney East in November.

His partner Bec was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease (mito) at the age of 19. Her life has been completely changed. Simple tasks that she used to enjoy now require careful planning and leave her feeling exhausted.

💚 But, with continual support from her family and friends, Bec maintains a hugely optimistic approach to life, whilst also supporting many other people who are dealing with chronic illness.

Bailey shares "Bec inspires me every day. The bloody long walk series is the best way to raise awareness and much needed funds for mito." 😊

🌻Meet Team Warrior Baby Cooper!🌻They are tak

🌻Meet Team Warrior Baby Cooper!🌻They are taking on The Bloody Long Walk this Sunday along Sydney's East in memory of baby Cooper.

At just 3 weeks old, Cooper was diagnosed with a type of mitochondrial disease, Leigh Syndrome. There was no cure and the best care was to treat the symptoms. After the shock of Cooper’s diagnosis, his family surrounded him with positivity and love. 👐

At 6 months, he passed away in his parent's arms.

His mum Elizabeth told us, "This is my 4th Bloody Long Walk and we're passing 4 years without our beautiful son Cooper. Over that time, our supportive tribe have raised incredible funds and awareness in his honour, Our family are so proud."

"I'm 11 months post back-to-back pregnancies with Cooper's little brothers Beau and Zane. So this time I'll have them waiting for me to cross the finish line😊"

"I've done no training and talked myself out of doing this year's event many times. But I'm reminded of the mito warriors fighting every day and the fact that they don't get a day off. That's why every year I'm walking for Cooper, for he continues to teach me resilience, love and hope." 💚

🙌 Meet the team... Act for Alana!💚

This amazing team is walking in memory of Alana, who lost her battle with mitochondrial disease (mito) in 2020, at just seven years old.

In 2016, Alana's mum Toni set up the team after Alana was diagnosed with mito. Since then, Alana's family and friends have joined The Bloody Long Walk each year at various locations across Australia. 👟

Toni told us "I needed to do something that felt constructive in a time filled with unpredictable symptoms and dire predictions about the life of Alana. The Bloody Long Walk became a way to connect our family and friends to Alana's journey under Act for Alana team, and Mito Foundation was a source of great support. 👐

While the team has been walking every year, I haven't participated in the walk since 2019. I rationalised that it was due to the pandemic, or being too busy. But once I finally signed up again and started to train, I realised why I had been avoiding the walk. Unlike all my previous walks, Alana won't be waiting for me at the finish line. I've really had to dig deep this time, finding motivation from the legacy Alana left us.

😊For the first time I'm walking with Alana's dad and sister. It's still emotionally (and physically!) challenging, but we know we are part of something bigger, and continue to be committed to making a difference for everyone impacted by mito."

💚The team has raised $2,000! We know Alana would be so proud. Together, we can make a difference.

🌟 A huge shout out to "Team Dot - Shaw and Partners" for taking on their 4th Bloody Long Walk in memory of baby Dot.

Dot lost her battle with mito aged 7 months. Her parents and their community have raised over $210,500 to help other families impacted by mito.

We join in celebrating Dot's legacy described by her mum Suzie. “Our family decided to choose happiness and love, because no-one’s life should be about sadness, especially our Dot”.

🙌 This year, the team's total is over $42,300! We are so grateful to have your support, thank you!
